The ultimate teen heartthrob of the 1990s is approaching middle age, but that hasn’t slowed his partying ways.
Approximately half of Internet content produced today is designed to make you feel old. Well, provided you were born sometime in the 1970s, 1980s or, maybe, the very early 1990s. Half of the Internet’s content, all telling you how long ago Clueless came out and that Comet the dog from Full House is definitely long dead.
We here at VF.com are not really hip to that canned nostalgia bag, but sometimes, on a very rare occasion, we are forced to point to something and say, “Dang, we got old.” One such occasion is today, I’m afraid. You see, Leonardo DiCaprio has turned 40.
Yes, the sweet-faced dream angel from Romeo + Juliet has, as time’s great and terrible wheels roll through the mud of history, suddenly become an early-middle-aged man. In the grand scheme of things, 40 is still young.
But it is nonetheless undeniably strange when an “It” boy, a notorious party prince of youthful indulgence, arrives at that milestone age. But don’t worry. He may be older, but Leo DiCaprio is not wiser.
Well, “wiser” might not be the right word. What I mean to say is, he’s still the same old club-hopping Leo he’s always been. Like some sort of royal jubilee, there have been three days of festivities to mark DiCaprio’s momentous birthday, beginning on Tuesday, the actual day of his birth, and continuing through tonight.
This has all been happening in Los Angeles, so any young models currently swaddled in mini-dresses and staggering around the Meatpacking District who want to gain entry into DiCaprio’s court, you have, like, 12 hours to get to California. There you’ll be met by the kind of posse that only Leonardo DiCaprio could assemble.
