Sophia Loren's Recovery Update Positive Progress After Six Weeks

Sophia Loren, the 89-year-old Oscar-winning actress, is continuing to make significant strides in her recovery nearly six weeks after a fall at her home resulted in multiple fractures, including her femur and hip. Loren underwent emergency surgery following the incident.

Her manager, Carlo Gusti, exclusively informed PEOPLE that "everything is going very well" as the iconic actress heals from the injuries. The accident occurred in the bathroom of Loren's home in Geneva, Switzerland, on September 24. Gusti had previously stated that the actress would require "at least a few months of rehabilitation" following the surgery.

Loren's two sons, Carlo Ponti Jr. and Edoardo Ponti, were present by their mother's side during her recovery in Switzerland.

Despite the setback, Loren seemed to be in high spirits just weeks before the accident. On September 2, she attended the Armani fashion show during the 80th Venice International Film Festival, appearing "very lively" and enjoying the event, according to witnesses.
